ATLANTA, GA (June 18, 2024) – Two SCCL teams competing in the US Club Soccer Southeast Regional Championships at Truist Sports Park in Bermuda Run, NC made it to the final stages of the competition.
In the U17 Boys Super Group, NASA 07B SCCL Elite opened up play with a win over One7 Academy from North Carolina. They went on to win the Championship in the next two games with results against Wake Forest and Inter Development Futbol. This trophy adds to their resume as the team, coached by Calvin Murray, had won the U17 Champions League division in the fall with a record of 9-1-2. The next stop for the team will be the US Club Soccer National Cup next month in Colorado.
In the U16 Boys Premier Group, the UFA 08B Red team, coached by Drew Wardle, started strong with a 6-1 win over West Florida Flames. The team would go on to stay undefeated in group play to advance to the finals. While UFA would come up short in the finals losing to Herron Soccer Academy (FL), they walked away as Finalists. Coach Wardle states, " I’m very proud of the desire, passion and togetherness this group of guys has displayed not only at this tournament, but throughout the season. Each one of these players has grown tremendously on and off the pitch, and I’m looking forward to another great year with this team."
